“I started noticing an increase of shedding after childbirth, when my baby was about 3 months old. I had read that increased shedding was completely normal and a very common issue for women post-partum. The shedding occurred when I would brush & wash my hair. Initially, I accepted the hair loss as being “normal”. However, as more and more hair shed, I started noticing my scalp showing through my hair on the sides of my head and on the temples, just above my forehead. Pulling my hair back into a ponytail, it became harder and harder to camouflage the area. That was the point when I realized I needed to seek help on how to slow down the hair loss & try to regain some of what I had lost.
I began my laser hair therapy in July and started seeing results in the first 4-6 weeks. The first progress I saw was a decrease in the hair loss, which made me feel encouraged that the service was really working. At the 8 week mark I noticed baby hairs starting to sprout, especially in the areas where I had noticed the loss (sides and temples). My confidence slowly started to gain momentum as I could wear my hair back without worrying about covering up the thinning areas, showing my scalp.
It has now has been 4 months since starting my treatments. I am so happy I decided to call when I did, before the loss got any worse. I do not have any reservations about styling my hair or wearing it a certain way to camouflage the thin areas. After sharing my story publicly I was amazed at all the women who have admitted they too struggle with thinning hair, I had no idea!
